Founding Full Stack Engineer

AlgoTest is an algorithmic options trading platform for Indian retail traders. For the first time ever, day traders will be able to trade using the same technology as the top hedge funds and high-frequency trading firms of the world.

We are looking for a Founding Full-Stack Engineer to join AlgoTest (S22). We're a dynamic, fast-growing startup revolutionizing the trading industry with a platform built specifically for retail traders and investors. Our goal is to empower individuals with the tools and knowledge to make informed trading decisions, levelling the playing field for retail traders in the financial markets.

Position Overview: Our web frontend is built in ReactJS and talks to our backend microservices via REST APIs. We're primarily looking for a strong frontend developer (React/Next.js) who's comfortable picking up backend tasks and understands microservice architecture as needed. You'll join as a founding team member on a product already used by thousands of people — we iterate quickly and ship fast.

Requirements:

• Strong proficiency in React/Next.js, with solid fundamentals in JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Working knowledge of Python and REST API design, with an understanding of microservice architecture — comfortable picking up backend tasks when needed.
• Proven experience (3+ years) building and shipping production web applications, preferably in a fast-paced environment.
• A self-driven and entrepreneurial mindset, with a willingness to take ownership and drive projects to completion.
• Prior experience in trading, fintech, or algorithmic trading is a plus.

We've built a scalable execution platform that's automated the execution of thousands of user-built strategies on AWS in real time. This is wrapped around a flask microservice.

Round 1: We'll share a beginner-level task involving building both a frontend interface and a connected backend microservice. Please send us a working prototype — it shouldn't take more than a couple of hours.

Round 2: A Zoom call to dive deeper into your Round 1 solution. We'll also discuss how you approach architecting a software system from a given problem statement. We're not looking for a perfect solution — we're interested in how you think through problems and how clearly you can communicate your approach.

Round 3: An HR interview with the founder or team lead to discuss culture fit, compensation expectations, and finalize next steps.
