We're a YC W22 company building at the intersection of payments, fintech infrastructure, and cross-border commerce. The problems we work on are technically and operationally hard: moving money reliably across different financial systems, abstracting local complexity without hiding what matters, and building infrastructure that companies can trust with mission-critical financial flows.

We're looking for people who enjoy ownership, move quickly, think from first principles, and want to build foundational infrastructure for a large and still highly fragmented market.

You run engineering day to day: delivery, reliability, and the technical bar of everything we ship.

Rebill processes real money across six markets on its own infrastructure. Event-driven microservices on a message bus, Kubernetes across Azure and AWS, infrastructure as code, and smart routing across a different set of local acquirers in every country. Card data lives in an isolated, tokenized environment.

We are AI-native by design. You will push engineering beyond AI-assisted coding into agentic workflows: autonomous coding and review agents, evals, feedback loops, human-in-the-loop controls, observability, and guardrails that let us safely automate more of the SDLC and production operations. The goal is not to use AI more; it is to rethink how a small engineering team can build and operate financial infrastructure.

You will hire and co-lead a small, high-caliber in-house engineering team alongside the CTO, while managing external engineering partners.

This is a hands-on seat. You review pull requests, write code, automate aggressively, and stay close to production. You are intellectually curious and passionate about documenting and sharing what you learn, inside Rebill and with the broader engineering community.

• Reliability. Uptime, incident response, observability, and the performance of payment routing. When approval rates drop in one market at two in the morning, you are the person who knows why.
• Delivery. The quarterly technical roadmap, release cadence, and the honesty of our dates. Engineering commitments that hold are worth more than ambitious ones that do not.
• Technical bar. Code review standards, testing, on-call, and documentation across a team that is part in-house and part external. Raising the floor is most of the job.
• Time to market. Today every new acquirer and every new payment method is its own integration project. Your job is to turn that into something closer to configuration, so opening a market takes weeks instead of quarters.
• Capacity decisions. What we build in-house, what we keep with partners, and what that costs. You bring the numbers and defend the call.

• 8+ years as a software engineer building payments, banking, or financial infrastructure that moves real money. This is a hard requirement.
• You come from payments: acquiring, processing, ledgers, reconciliation, or a fintech moving real transactional volume. Not a company that happened to charge cards.
• Hands-on. You still write and review code, and you are the person who goes into the incident, not the one who asks for the postmortem.
• You have worked with external engineering partners or agencies and can describe what you did to make that model work.
• Distributed systems in production: event-driven architectures, queues, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code.
• Fluent English and Spanish. Our acquirers, auditors, and merchants do not share one language.
• Based in Buenos Aires, Bogotá, or Miami (hybrid).
• AI tools as part of how you work. Everyone at Rebill uses them daily to move faster.

• Portuguese at a working level for Brazil.
• Prior startup or YC-company experience at a similar stage.

• A senior package matching the seat: competitive base and meaningful equity.
• Direct access to the founders, with no layers in between.
• Ownership of a payments platform that is already in production across six markets, at the point where the decisions you make still shape it.
• Hybrid base in one of this locations: Buenos Aires, Bogotá, or Miami. (sponsorships not available)

Rebill builds financial infrastructure that connects companies to local payment and financial systems across Latin America and the United States.

Our platform exposes this infrastructure through APIs, webhooks, an embedded checkout, payment links, and web components. Behind that interface, we integrate with multiple local acquirers and payment rails across Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Chile, and the US.

Some of the technical problems we work on include:

• Normalizing different payment methods, currencies, installment models, and acquiring behaviors behind a consistent API.
• Building reliable recurring billing and payment orchestration across markets where the underlying infrastructure behaves differently.
• Processing and reconciling transactions, settlements, refunds, disputes, fees, and balances across multiple providers and countries.
• Designing financial systems where correctness, idempotency, traceability, and auditability matter.
• Routing and managing payment flows across local cards, bank transfers, PIX, PSE, SPEI, and other market-specific rails.
• Integrating fraud and risk systems while preserving deterministic financial records and balances.
• Building infrastructure that can evolve as we expand into treasury, global payouts, and stablecoin-based financial rails.

The core challenge is making fragmented financial infrastructure across the Americas feel like one coherent system for developers and finance teams.
